What should I know about using Sanction on Windows Vista™?
- Only a user with Administrative access can install software on a Windows Vista system. If you do not have Administrative access you will not be able to install Sanction 2.9 correctly. This is extremely important to remember and to be aware of before installing Sanction II.9 on Vista.
- The default location for the user settings file in Windows Vista is:
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Verdict Systems\SanctionII\<your username>.xml, our original Windows XP Location was previously:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Verdict Systems\SanctionII.
- The Windows Help (WinHlp32.exe) program is no longer included with Windows operating systems starting with Windows Vista. See this Microsoft Knowledge Base article for information:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607
However, Windows Vista users can download a version of WinHlp32 for Windows Vista here:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82148 - The information fields that appear above the Tree view, List view and the Display window in the Main Sanction 2.9 screen may be black and may not display text. To correct the issue follow these steps:
- The Screen Capture tool (F7) may not capture a Magnify window that appears on the Presentation Mode screen. All other functions of the Capture tool work correctly. If you need to capture a Presentation Mode screen with a Magnify window use the Windows Vista Snipping tool. Open the Snipping tool from the All Programs, Accessories folder and select Window Snip then click on the Presentation Mode window. Save the snip as an image file and import the file into the Images category in Sanction to use it in your presentation.
To check to see if the current user has Administrative Access to the local computer, go to the Control Panel and select USER ACCOUNTS:
When you select Properties, this window will appear for you:
You can add this user to be an ADMINISTRATOR within the ADMINISTRATOR GROUP, to access to this computer. To properly run Sanction you should have this enabled for your user along with making sure the ICON shortcut has been enabled to run as an ADMINISTRATOR as well. To do so, simply RIGHT CLICK your SanctionII Icon on your desktop and select Properties:
On the Shortcut Tab, select ADVANCED:
Check this box off to Run as Administrator and your application will consistently open as an Administrator.
