Adobe Acrobat PDF Files created in version 9.0 do not appear in either Verdical or Sanction.
For both Sanction and Verdical, our imaging component does not currently support the most recent release of Adobe Acrobat 9.0 files. The problem resides with the imaging component not being able to properly read and access the PDF File, which in turn causes the application to consider the document as a Single-Page image (where it may be Multi-Page) and also not be able to view the image itself.
There are a few resolutions that we have to remedy this minor issue.
- When scanning your items, if you change the Adobe format to version 7.0, the image will still maintain its quality but also have no problem importing the document into either Sanction of Verdical (particularily if it's a multi-page document).
- If your items have already been scanned and you wish to keep them as PDF files, you can save the file in Adobe to an earlier PDF Format (Version 7.0 is recommended) or you can use a number of third-party applications to BATCH convert your items, if you have extensive amounts of scanned documents. CutePDF Writer and Universal Document Converter are applications that we have extensively used here in our offices, which will allow for BATCH conversion of your PDF files quickly and easily.
- Scan your images as Single or Multi-Page TIFs from the start. This obviously is the most recommended basis for either of our applications. The reason we consistently encourage TIF usage in any scanning application is their flexibility and versatility. The TIF format is really in essence, no different than a PDF (minus some minor sizing comparisons). Any computer can view a TIF image and normally without installing any outside applications (like Adobe® Acrobat Reader®). You also will have the ability, from both within Sanction and Verdical to EXPORT your TIF images out to the PDF Format, including any annotations you've created. PDF files cannot be rotated from within either of our applications, due to the constraints that Adobe locks with the files. TIF images give you the ability for such functionalities as Deskewing, Despeckling and Rotating, functionality that we are unable to utilize for PDF Files.
