Why do I get "Object variable or with block variable not set..." after installing Sanction?

After installing/updating the standalone version of Sanction you receive the following error when you attempt to launch the software:
"Object variable or with block variable not set C/Program Files/SanctionII/C:/Documents and Settings/your <username>/Local settings/application data/verdict systems/sanctonII/"
You may receive 2 additional errors after clicking the OK button.

Cause:

This issue occurs because a previous version of Sanction does not uninstall a file that conflicts with the latest version.

Resolution:

To resolve the issue you are experiencing launching Sanction please follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall Sanction.
  2. After uninstalling, navigate to C:\Program Files\SanctionII.
  3. Delete the file named UserSettings.xml.
  4. Reinstall Sanction.

After reinstalling Sanction the software should function correctly.
